Founded in 1844 by the German banker Hermann Upmann, it is one of Havana's oldest brands. A cigar lover himself, Upmann shipped them to London in cedar boxes stamped with his initials. The brand is known for mild-to-medium, elegant cigars with notes of leather and coffee. The Magnum 46 and the Sir Winston are among its essential references.
